monday--spring THAW!!!!!!!!!!!

good morning! I think its finally safe to say that spring is in the air. the weekend was warm--Saturday was glorious--the sun shone most of the day and I think it got quite a bit warmer than predicted. the show is beginning to melt--small streams are eddying out from beneath dirty, gravely piles of snow everywhere, and our lower driveway is full of puddles and mud. it is a VERY welcome sight.
we finished construction on our second hanging bookcase, and moved them up into the garage so I can coat them with sanding sealer and get them ready to stain. they turned out so nice--I am excited to get them finished! rob has chosen a tabletop for his desk--the local woodworking shop has oak "butcher block" style laminated panels--2 inches thick and already finished. they will make a perfect work surface for him. he is going to make panel sides for the legs, so we got a piece of oak faced plywood for that. and we hashed out the design for the other side of the room--a second work surface, 2 small bookcase units and some open shelves. there is a small corner area we haven't quite figured out yet, but that probably won't happen until the rest of it is all in place. will probably be a free floating corner tabletop that is mounted to the wall with cantilevered supports.
today its grocery day and a stop at the lawn and garden place near the grocery store. we are considering a new tractor and I want to stop and see what they have to say. I think we have narrowed our choices to Kubota and Mahindra. so we need to visit both dealerships and look at the options available. it will be interesting to see if they talk to me alone (without a man). that will be a part of the decision too.
have a great day!

It was a gorgeous day today!! It got up to 54 here!! Puddles everywhere, but there's still a great deal of snow. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain. I hope we don't have flooding like we did several years ago...

My folks had a Kubota on the farm. It was "mine", in that since I was the one who did most of the grass cutting, I knew how to put gas in it, prime it, check it, etc. I have a picture of me riding on it somewhere.....They make a very dependable tractor.

We are also having Spring. It will be in the 40s all week and is VERY welcome. Good luck with the tractor -- I appreciate the "will they talk to a woman" comment. Hope all goes well.
