Non Scale Victories

Saturday, February 28, 2015

So my weight is up. I'm disappointed but not really surprised. I've had a lot going on lately, but I've also figured some things out.

I've been hung up a while on why I lost weight so well when I first joined spark and why I'm struggling now. Well, its because I treated it like a diet. I was strict, followed all my plans and lost weight. but I didn't really focus on making permanent healthy changes.

I've been making a lot better choices lately. I am seeing differences, the scale just hasn't caught up yet.

1. I am managing my pain better now. I was really resistant to increasing my medications for a while but finally admitted that I needed to. I don't think I've been pain free but the pain has been a lot less. hopefully once I am healthier, both weight and strength, I'll be able to come off them.

2. I am being better to myself. I'm enjoying my yoga practice and today started walking again. I feel positive about building activity that I really enjoy and will continue.

3. I'm cooking a lot more and relying on processed foods less. And I see those healthy changes affecting my family too. Even today my son said he wanted a healthy snack and asked for some peanut butter and crackers.

So i do feel bad that my weight isn't reflecting my changes yet, especially since I feel like I am letting my team down. But i'll get there.
