Has it been a month already? Mindfulness wrap-up

Wow, February went by quickly! I guess that's the norm for such a short month....

I think my mindful eating has gone pretty well. I do find myself distracted at times, but have been noticing that more, and making an effort at those times to slow down, and I think it's definitely helped! I find myself less likely to snack mindlessly, and have been gauging my hunger before I eat, asking myself if I'm really hungry, or just wanting to eat out of boredom, or habit...and if I'm not hungry, I'm waiting. It's also improved my trending weight, as that has been trending down the past couple of weeks. It's very slow, but since I'm not tracking I'm OK with that.

I did tweak my back last weekend, which made me think about my workout schedule for the week, so I switched my training day from Monday to Friday. I think that was the smart thing to do, since Monday my back/leg (sciatic nerve?) was really bothering me, and by Friday it was pretty much good to go. I made a conscious effort to get up at least once every hour and walk around, especially since Monday I was sitting most of the day, and that was when I had it the worst.

So I guess I'm happy that this months challenge of mindful eating has spilled over into mindful movement as well! I'm so routine based, I think if I wasn't paying attention to my hunger levels and seeing how that is helping, that I might have just ignored the back trouble and gone ahead with my scheduled workout, but being more aware has lead to my taking better care of myself, and listening to what I really need, not just going along out of habit or routine.

And March is almost here! I haven't really thought of what to focus on for March....hmmm I'll have to give that some thought!

    What a great blog! I love that you have been focusing on mindfulness and eating...as well as your physical being and moving your workout times around to better suit you. It really sounds as if you have had a good month. It inspires me to be more mindful as well. I did not have my scale the past two months but I was really busy and only really ate (most of the time) when I was hungry and when my scale got off the boat with the rest of my stuff I found that I had dropped 2 pounds! Now that things are less busy I think that being mindful is the answer.
