    I was surprised that Dr. B says I should be eating 1700 calories and not 1200 (as I was previously doing). Lowering your calories too low works against you. Wish I'd have known that a long time ago!

    This gives you new 'thought-tools' to put you in a mindful mode when making food decisions. You also write/review when you've resisted/re-thought food decisions.

    You write response cards (+others), and you read them daily. There is much more to know than that but the making & reading of cards are important.

    1 of my response cards says: Emotions and hunger are not emergencies. I don't have to eat. I can tolerate these feelings. Eating won't solve these problems. It will only make things worse b/c then I'll have 2 problems: the original one, ....

    It's more about training your brain to resist, to have a new way of responding to food, food pushers, and most importantly, to respond to our internal dialogue that goes for eating when resisting is best.

    If you think about it, many people don't release weight not b/c of not knowing how. It's more about those exact moments in time when we give into food because of emotions, habit, negative thinking, not being strong enough to say 'no', etc.

    The index cards are for reminding you of the benefits of losing weight, transforming sabotaging thoughts into helpful ones, claiming successes, etc.

    It was so so good, I could not put it down. I read it first, then I reread it and actually did her index cards (you'll see what I mean). But instead of actual index cards, I put all notes in an app called "list note."
