Sometimes You Can Do All of the Right Things, but...

Thursday, February 19, 2015

Several people have told me that they would not inform people what I am about to share.

End of 2014, I had a heart attack on December 19. Exactly 28 days later I had a heart failure. Since joining SP I have started eating right, regular exercising (every day), and relieving myself of stress. These are all good things. My problem was that I damaged my heart years ago when I didn't care what I put in my body. Well! The heart has a way to wake you up.

Amazingly, I feel absolutely fine. I thought I had pneumonia. My doctor's PA suggested I go to the emergency room immediately. I thought if I had had a heart attach there would be a great deal of pain. The only pain I felt was after the stent was put in. The same for the heart failure except I did not have surgery.

Hi Bettie. I am glad to see you are taking good care of yourself, and listening to your PA
You are doing the right thing, and following through on your PA's advice in getting to the E.R.
It is a new year, and you are in the right caring community, of SP, where friends can check in on you, and wish you well. And as you said before, you can read uplifting blogs. I concur! I love seeing how others are taking charge of their lives, and their health, and living better. It is the shared journey, we all learn from.
Best to you in your recovery, and continued efforts!

Well, I'm really glad that doctor sent you to the hospital and that there are ways to keep the heart going now that weren't available years ago.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear that, Bettie, but I'm glad you are here to tell the tale! Women don't always have the "typical" heart attack symptoms. Women's symptoms are often different from what men report. Good thing that you did join spark and make all those healthy lifestyle adjustments. That's probably what helped you get through this. I hope you continue to feel better!
