My Backyard Needs to Go on a Diet

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

It's official. The winter of 2015 has surpassed the winter of 1978 as the new benchmark for miserable winters in Greater Boston. It's the 8th snowiest winter on record with 6 weeks of winter left to go.

This is my backyard snow pile just before the first 2ft storm hit at the end of January.

It's big

getting bigger

and bigger

and still bigger

In short, my backyard needs to go on a DIET !!!

The snow was pretty for a little while. Now, we're all snow weary in New England.

And... I need to send a Valentine's card. Where IS the post box ?

Brandon was telling me you were getting clobbered again today. Do you have a snowblower, or are you still shoveling? Don't get buried in that now. We could use some of it here. it's been 60°. We've broken a lot of records, too. Haven't had any snow on the ground since before Christmas. Take it easy, kiddo. Hugs, Calen~

Delightful series of photos...! especially the mailbox. I grew up in snow country...with maybe 3-4 feet max... but now live in a more temperate area. We get occasional snow, which is about "just enough"... emoticon

I also lived in British Columbia for awhile...out in the wilderness. Just for comparison: one weekend in a particularly intense snow storm, the local Road Crew "lost" their road grader. It was left parked on the side of a mountain pass, and was totally buried in *level* snow when they returned on Monday! But that's mountain country...not downtown Boston!! Good Luck...will be thinkin' of you all....
