My Yoga Kitty

Last week, after exercising all week, including two strength training sessions, I got myself a reward - two Gaiam yoga DVDs - to help me get through winter nights that I don't want to go out. Last night I started the 25-minute stretching and relaxation session, one of my four choices. I was on my yoga mat on the floor. My tuxedo kitty, Rosie (see picture), was on the bed. At first, she was intently watching me as I went through various stretching poses. Her head would move back and forth, her sharp green eyes keeping track of my every move. As I got into the stretching and breathing, I quit paying attention to Rosie.
Near the end of the session, I looked up. Rosie had turned over and was lying on her back with her front paws on her belly, her head back and mouth open. It was totally adorable!! You could tell she was trying to mimic me, though I don't know where the open mouth came from.
This was a wonderful laugh for me and very motivating to do more yoga. I have three kitties, but only one yoga kitty. I guess I have a new little yoga buddy - and you know what they say about the buddy system when it comes to exercise ...
