Calling all runners....... I need help!!

Thursday, February 05, 2015

Happy Thursday, everyone! I hope everyone is having a great day. I have a questions for all of my runner friends out there. I am having a heck of a time with my calves. They are SOOOO tight because of my increase in mileage. I have tried stretching, foam rolling, but nothing seems to work. When I squat down (think squatting like when you are at the grocery store looking at something on the bottom shelf) I feel like my calf muscles are going to rip right out of my legs. emoticon

My run last night was so painful and I kept thinking my legs were going to give out, they kept buckling from the pull. I did find out towards the end that the faster I ran the better they felt, though I was still afraid of falling on that treadmill because of the weakness I was experiencing. Does anybody have any kind of miracle trick/stretch that works?!

Thanks in advance!

I'm told when that happens to me that it's because I need to drink more water and eat a banana.

I had it so bad once I had Bonnie massage it out of me...I cried (I hate massages) so I know what you are going through.

Kim is getting the plantar fascistic and doesn't know what to do.

    good luck!!

I don't run anymore, just jog if I am on a beach but I think you are probably not warming up before and then doing the standard calf stretch gently afterwards. You might have to back off a bit ( my husband is a runner) and research calf stretching.

Ohhhh.... that sounds painful! I don't think my muscles have ever been that painful before so I can't say for sure what to try. Maybe try some heat on them for a little while? Or maybe even ice? Also, are your shoes maybe an issue for you? The only time I have serious trouble with my muscles is when I need to replace my shoes. Which is weird, because most of the time they don't look worn at all. Good luck! Hope you figure something out very soon!
