Sometimes the plan doesn't work

Wednesday, February 04, 2015

So I've started a new way of planning my workouts. As much as I love technology, I really like making hand written lists. So, I've made a simple template and have been planning out 2 weeks at a time. It looks like this:

I know that what I plan doesn't always work out, so I put the column for "actual" workouts. Like today, it was raining and cold out. I wanted to make sure the dog got her run in, so we got ready and left. The dog hated it. When she's not having fun it's hard for me to have fun. So we did one mile then came in. I added some extra burpees and KB swings so that I felt better about the morning workout. In order to get my 10k steps in for the day I will get on the treadmill tonight. So my plan didn't work, but I adapted.

I am very proud of myself for getting even a short run in despite the rain. I admit, I am a fair weather runner. I don't like the rain. Obviously, neither does the dog. I guess I'd better put her rain coat on her next time. emoticon It was probably a silly purchase, that rain coat. I mean, who runs with their dog wearing a hot pink rain coat?! But, at the same time... who cares!! If the dog is happier that way there is no reason for me not to. Right??

And now for an update:

The end of today is 14.2% through the month

10,000+ steps: 2/20 days 10% (I WILL get my steps in today so I'm already counting it)
Burpees: 51/1000 5.1%
Kettlebell Swings: 51/1000 5.1%
Lunges: 20/400 5%
Miles tracked on FitBit: 10.07/150 6.71%

I have to admit, I'd really like to see a pic of your pooch in a hot pink rain jacket. Good job for adapting though. I 'm one of those people that if my plans get screwed up I just throw in the towel
