Sister is out of the hospital.

My sister went home to her daughter's last night. When we had another meeting, she was on just the oxygen and was sitting up and able to go to the bathroom by herself. She chose hospice because they will come anytime day or night if they have to call them if she was to have an episode where she can't breathe. They will be able to take a Cpap machine home with them and the hospice nurse will give her breathing treatments. I think she will go to pulmonary rehab also. Someone will be with her round the clock. Hospice is free and they will provide a hospital bed and any medical equipment she needs. The only thing about hospice is if she cannot breathe again, they will not do any life saving measures, they will just make her comfortable until the end. Without hospice, if she gets sick again, they would have to take her to the ER and go through what she just went through each time. I don't think I would want to go through what she just went through again either if I were her. They said if she does improve, and they way she already has improved so quickly, then she can drop the hospice at any time. We call her "the come back kid" now:)
She is so strong that I really think she will continue to improve and will have many more months or even years left as long as she doesn't get sick again! I did wear a mask when I went to the hospital to see her, but I really think I was just sick from mental and physical exhaustion this past week. I feel a lot better today and hope to get back to exercising and eating right. I lost 2 1/2 lbs last week, just from the whole situation, but I overate all day yesterday. I hope I don't gain it back this week!
Once again, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and all the support I have received during this emotional time. You all are amazing and caring Sparkpeople!
