No Added Sugar!

Today is day #1 of 14 that I am cutting almost all added sugar out of my diet. This means no sweets / desserts, but also no crackers, breads, dressings, etc with added sugar. I will accept honey or agave. I will also still eat natural sugars like fruits and limited dairy. I will also have a couple exception IF they are healthy.

Example, this morning I realized that my SO Delicious Coconut Milk based yogurt has added sugar. Sure, I knew this, but I hadn't thought about it yet. I decided that the benefits of the probiotics and the food itself out-weight the negative effects of a little bit of added (organic) sugar. I will also make the exception of fruit juice flavoring foods (like my Bolthouse Farms Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing) although I will not be drinking actual juice (I don't drink juice regularly anyway).

There will also be small exceptions such as visiting family. This weekend I will be taking my kids and staying in my in-law's home. I will not be asking her about every single ingredient in her cooking, but I will still be cautious. If there are things she has out that have the nutrition facts label, I will review it. If it's obviously something with added sugar, I will not eat it. If I do not know, I will make an educated guess. :) I will also be dining out with my mom on Sunday, but I already have a plan to order a nice salad with a vinaigrette type dressing (not cherry, raspberry, etc).

So.... how are we doing:

Breakfast: SO Delicious Yogurt, Vanilla + Grapefruit + 1/2 oz raw Walnuts
Lunch: Albacore Tuna + Laughing Cow Cheese + Orange + Brussels Sprouts + Veggies w/ Bolthouse Farms Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing

I have no set plans for dinner, but we'll just get a quite bite to eat and then head out so I'll likely steam some frozen vegetables and have with eggs? I'm not sure.

No plans for snacks tonight. Will try to stick with water.


Anyone up for joining in? 1/23 through 2/6 without added sugars.
