Celebrate, you deserve it but how?

Thursday, January 22, 2015

I grew up celebrating anything and everything with food and drink! I am sure many of you can relate to this. And here I go again. I start the year off right, jump back into spark, lose a pound first week and 2 more the 2nd then gain 2 pounds the 3rd week.. why?? Because I ate bad stuff because I was celebrating losing weight!

does that sound just as stupid to you as it does to me?

I can see you all shaking your heads yes yes yes!

so I need to learn new celebrations. emoticon

My issue is that I have not yet found a celebration as readily available or more satisfying as food,

So I need some thoughts - how do you celebrate losing pounds?

Goals I have set in past

a special snack

a manicure - earned and never collected, not any of the several dozen times I earned one

a massage - same as the manicure.

new jewelry - I have mine, some of my mother's and some of my grandmothers'. I don't NEED anything and what I want is too expensive

movie out - haven't tried this but is hard for me cause my DH, wonderful man as he is, doesn't like the movies, but he will take me out to eat!!

exercise - really?? I can't seem to turn this into a reward. I do it because I need to.

at 60, there isn't a lot I need or, for that matter even want.

I need HELP. Please pile on the suggestions.

I just celebrated 30 lbs. gone by getting a mani/pedi and a massage! I love a pamper day....I find it best to reward myself with something that's totally just for ME! Food is definitely NOT the way to go.....Lol Do you have hobbies? Do you like to go the movies? There are so many fun things you could choose......Good luck!

I went to yahoo and typed in "non food rewards for weight loss" : it finds tons of great stuff. Some of my favs. were: kitchen gadget, bouquet of flowers, magazine subscription, go to a museum or art gallery, put money towards hiring a maid or for a smaller wardrobe or towards a weekend trip. If you want to move slower away from the food rewards to non- maybe make a reward for you to take a healthy cooking class ? Not sure about you- but I always get these community education catalogs in the mail with all sorts of classes you can take, or lessons to practice- dancing, etc... Good luck!

My celebrations now are buying new clothes - in smaller sizes. This is really a good reward for me.

I guess we could be like Pixie and not weigh-- we could celebrate NSV, like loose clothes , feeling better when we walk-- I don't really have the answer because I am in the same boat

I usually celebrate with adding things to my hobbies. A new book (even if it's from the library). An extra hour of Netflix ( I love to binge). A new movie I have been wanting to see (love that redbox). Some toys for my cats to play with. Small things
