I've been wanting to do this event for a few years now. We finally got it scheduled! It is over two days with the 10K & 5K on Saturday and the Half on Sunday. Since I would be supporting our Outspokin Multisport Team runners on Sunday, I decided to do the 10K/5K Challenge on the first day! D would do the 5K.
As always, we got there early to get parked and relaxed with the race site! How could you not get relaxed, it's at the Sirata Resort on St Pete Beach! As it was a bit chilly, we went into the lobby and ran into our Team Hope Captain and the runner with her service pup I had run with three weeks earlier!
It's always good to hang out and get casual before a race. The time went fast and it was time to get into the corral!
D accompanied me to the start...
then took this shot of me as I started the 10K.
I attribute the blur to my lightning turtle speed!
This was just going to be a light training run since I had been down with a cold for two weeks! SO, I'm enjoying the journey!
As the Sun rose, it became a gorgeous day! Loved running north through downtown St Pete Beach! There were spectators everywhere cheering the runners on! Coming south, we ran by the Gulf beaches. After I finished the 10K, I hydrated, got a little beans n rice, then headed with D to the 5K.
It had been a while since we did a race together so I decided to try to keep up with her race walker pace. Trust me when I say I have the utmost respect. She had me going! I was very happy to share that 5K with her!
When we finished, we hit the Food Tent...
Refueled outside on the beach by the Gulf and chilled...
Then got our "Official Medal Shot" on!
Took a shot of D as proof of completing her virtual Clearwater Distance Classic race. This is how you work it!
She reciprocated with my bling score for the Classic Duo Challenge!
Outstanding enthusiastic volunteers on a gorgeous race site by the Gulf, and well organized, D & I will definitely consider doing the St Pete Beach Classic Half next year!
Thanks for taking the time to read & comment on my blog! Much love...
