Progress, not perfection, is probably a better goal

Ever had that moment when you want to both laugh and cry? I just had one while reviewing my 2014 goals blog. I had some big goals that didn't pan out. This year, I'm setting the bar a little--no, a lot-- lower this year because I need that feeling of success despite those times when life goes crazy.
My goals for the year are:
(1) Devote at least 20 minutes a day at least 4 days per week to deliberate exercise. Gym, walking, swimming, fitness dvd, whatever. Ideally, I'll get back to 60-90 minutes 6x week but I'm setting the bar at baby steps.
(2) Track meals without conveniently 'forgetting' those little extras.
(3) Continue to pack lunch at least 4 times each work-week.
(4) Cut the soda out. It was out of my diet for more than a year. How it got back in is a mystery, but it needs to go away.
(5) Get back into the habit of reaching for a glass of water if I think I need an unplanned snack. If still hungry, then grab a fruit/veggie. If still hungry a few minutes later, find & track a more substantial snack.
(6) Give myself grace. Two steps forward, one step is still progress. As long as I keep making the effort, I'll get there eventually. Quitting gets you nowhere fast.
They're small goals and that's okay by me. I'd rather vault over basic goals than have another year of giving up when something goes wrong.
