Grand Canyon Team Bike Ride

Friday, January 16, 2015

If you are reading this for the 1st time...I am setting up a fun event for our team to take a fun bike ride together using miles from our exercising.
10 minutes or something comparable will earn us miles.

10 minutes = 1 mile.

our 1st destination will be 254 miles to the Grand Canyon from Phoenix.

We will meet at IHOP for a healthy breakfast filled with the proper nutrition for energy.

Starting point is IHOP and our mode of transportation are bikes

Here we GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

We will travel 33 miles to Anthem....a fairly new community just off the highway.

emoticon we reached Anthem in no time at all.

Our next destination is Rock Springs which is 15 miles up the road. They are famous for their pies but I feel Pine Country pies are best.

We have biked 63 miles as of Sunday, Jan.18 2015

After a short rest...we will head up the mountain to Sunset Point then to Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona...this is another 15 miles to bike to reach Sedona

We are now in Sedona (Tuesday Jan 20th)

This is from the inside of "the church on the Hill". I took this picture when I visited last year. It is a very popular church.

Church on the Hill...Sedona, Arizona

Our next destination is Flagstaff...we have 24 miles before we get there.

In town we are at the train depot which is a wonderful information center. In the background is a great shot of San Fransico Peaks. The highest mountain in Arizona and is a great ski run.

We have biked another 74.5miles and with that .....we are 88 miles away from the Grand Canyon

Let` see what there is to see while biking the 88 miles.

We will head west and go to Williams, Az. On the way we will stop at the deer farm to feed the deer

The steam train is also a large draw to this area

Bearizona is a fairly new attraction that is a drive thru animal park

Williams is the last town of Route 66 that was bypassed by the freeway

10 miles out of town...headed north..is Callie`s home away from home. We can spend the night and get an early start in the a/m.

The drive to Grand Canyon is 51 miles from here.....of which we only have 35 miles left to bike.

We are on our last day. We just passed Bedrock City. A fun place for tourists to go.

9 more miles to the GrandCanyon

We have reached our destination....from Phoenix...254 miles emoticon

What a beautiful view.

emoticon ALL who came along on the bike ride with us.
