I had a great "Weigh Day", which made me very happy because I've worked VERY hard this week. That start to my day motivated me to stay on track today and get lots accomplished, including 2 workouts.
The first one was unplanned. I was waiting in the car while my SparkSister, Dottie, went into Walgreens to pick up a few things. While I was waiting, I decided I was wasting time just sitting there and got out of the car and did some laps around the building so that I'd make my daily goal of 10,000 steps (Thank you, little Spark tracker!). Turned out, I walked12 minutes and got credit for a mini-workout!
My planned workout came later. Dottie and I took our dogs, Hugs and Justice, to the park for a walk. It's been cold and windy all week, so we really weren't looking forward to it, but we've been stuck inside for too long and had a severe case of cabin fever. Turned out to be great! I walked 72 minutes and Justice is now sleeping soundly (for a change), thanks to his workout.
Other news . . .
I've been wanting to get a Fitbit Charge HR since my birthday (which was right after Christmas). I finally saw online that they're shipping now, so I ordered one directly from the Fitbit site. I can't wait for it to get here because it will not only count my steps and calculate my calories burned, but it has a heart rate and sleep monitor. I'm very excited about the sleep monitor because I have sleep apnea and want to be able to see how much my weight loss will improve my sleep. Plus, I think it will sync with SP!
If you read my earlier blogs, you might be aware that, in December, I challenged myself to walk from my home in Levittown, PA to Cape May, NJ. I completed the challenge successfully and my reward was to be a long weekend in Cape May. Since then, I've been trying to decide exactly where to go. I finally found the place and made my reservation. It's not Cape May, but it's a shore town nearby (Ocean City, NJ). Here's where I'll be staying:
My trip is a little less than 2 weeks away and I'll be taking Justice with me. We'll be staying on track and burning lots of calories walking the boardwalk and around town. Hopefully it will warm up a bit between now and then, but if it doesn't I'll be prepared to walk in the cold.
My virtual walk challenge for this month is a walk to Sleeping Bear Dunes, in Michigan. I'm walking with a friend of mine from my "Relight the Spark" team. The mileage for this walk is 110. My progress so far:
Jan. 1 = 1.6 miles
Jan. 2 = 2 miles
Jan. 3 = 4.1 miles
Jan. 4 = 8.4 miles
Jan. 5 = 3 miles
Jan. 6 = 4.6 miles
Jan. 7 = 6 miles
Jan. 8 = 7.3 miles
Jan. 9 = 4.1 miles
Jan. 10 = 5.1 miles
Jan. 11 = 6.5 miles and counting
Miles to go = 57.3 miles to go
I invite everyone to visit "Relighting the Spark" and join us on our walk. It's a team for Spark veterans who've gotten off track or who are struggling and want to finish what they started. If that sounds like you, we want you as a member of the team.
My plan for the upcoming week . . .
Eat within my calorie range; hydrate, hydrate, hydrate; and exercise: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is strength training and 60 minutes of cardio at the gym; Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday is 60 minutes of cardio (outdoors, weather permitting). I will also continue to eat at home most nights rather than dining out and further educate myself about nutrition and weight management.
Because a goal without a plan is a plan to fail and I have no intention of doing that.
Don't Give Up!
