SparkPeople as another alternative to gastric bypass...and affairs

Saturday, January 10, 2015

It was in the fall of 2013...A co-worker showed up looking like a fraction of the woman she used to be, and she credited it to the Lapband or one of those alternative gastric bypass procedures. She recommended it to me, as I weighed 225 at the time.

I brought home the idea to my family, and I was soundly rejected.

This fall, 2014, I am the one that showed up at work after the summer looking like a fraction of my old self. Of course, my co-worker smiled and approached with the assumption that I had gotten the procedure she had recommended to me. She was astonished when I credited SparkPeople, tracking calories, and exercising with my transformation. She walked away in disbelief.

I have lost a few noticeable sizes more since the fall, and my co-worker again probed me about gastric bypass, clearly needing clarification that I did not have a procedure. I showed her my eyelashes, and mentioned that on NYE, I had synthetic eyelashes put on for FUN, but I reiterated that I had lost 66 pounds between Jan. 2014 and Jan. 2015 with SparkPeople, not surgery.

She still doesn't believe me, and as she started to walk away, she retorted, "You're having an affair, aren't you?"

I didn't answer her, but I told my husband that I am having an AFFAIR with someone on SparkPeople--ME!

Actually, you should have been turned down for bypass anyway - it used to be a minimum of 250 lbs and you were under that.

Did you know that just like counting calories, only 5% get it off and of those only 5% keep it off, even in bypass surgery?!

SP is soooo much better than that! Good move on your part!

Oh, I just love this story. That woman who had the surgery is in awe and jealous of your willpower. Congrats on your fabulous weight loss. You just keep that smile on your face knowing you'll never have to lose that weight again because you've earned the loss, not paid for it. It sure isn't an easy road, but I think much more self-satisfying.
I love your family for discouraging you from going the surgery route.
A very inspiring blog. Thank you!!!

LOL LOVE IT !! KEEP That affair GOING ON GIRL !! Now NORMALLY if it was to another person,, I WOULD NOT SAY THAT, but with ourselves,, for IMPROVEMENT YEAH !!

You have WORKED UR TAIL OFF,, LITERALLY !! WOOHOOO !! I've been so PRIVILEGED to watch this,, and SMILE along with you !!

As a week ago,, I was eating something WICKED BAD ,,,, I asked myself "WOuld she do it"? (YOU !) and my answer was "NO WAY" and now I am being more selective,, still not great at it,,, but, at least the thoughts are there.

SO PROUD OF YOU !! And yeah I ALSO asked about the lapband,, but it was my own Dr,, who started me along this ways with "NO Diane !! When you get ready,, you are a VERY STUBBORN Person,, in a NICE WAY, and I KNOW YOU WILL Get the WEIGHT OFF on UR OWN". I give her a TON of CREDIT for NOT babying me,, nor for making it easier,, with the surg,, or WOULD it of been? ?NO !! I LOVE food, but, now in the PROPER AMOUNT of Calories (I have that part covered now ! WOOHO as of Last Summer,, its VERY RARE I go over my cals,,,, I'd guess once in 3 months,,,, I mostly stay on the lower end of my cals allowed).

TY GAL For doing this !!! KEEP UP THAT AFFAIR !
