Weekly progress report 1/9/15

I've had a hit and miss week. Still not 100% with getting up earlier to exercise before work (goal is every day) but I am slowly coming around to it. I am finding I like the peace and quiet in the morning. I can do the treadmill and watch whatever I want on the tube without input from anyone.

Breakfasts and lunches at work have been pretty darn good. I've stayed on track with some combo of soup/salad/wasa bread/tuna and supplementary snack of kashi bar or carrots. I am still having some major hunger before I get to dinner time. I need to figure out how to more successfully balance the calories throuout the day so this doesn't happen. I will admit that yesterday, while cleaning out my snack drawer, I found a reeses cup from Halloween. I was so happy and promptly ate it...then I felt the expected wave of guilt, lol.

I've cooked for dinner all week--very successful with this. All have been balanced and healthy meals. While I am not measuring proportions because of the sheer hunger, I know from experience when I am eating too much and when I am not. That said, I am very happy with this week because all meals (thus far) have been eaten by all parties without complaint. This has not been so easy in the past. My daughter turned 12 back in April and is finally starting to develop a more sophisticated palate.

I still haven't weighed myself since getting back on track. Nothing's fitting looser yet. Too scared that I will get discouraged by a number. I consciously am trying to stay away from the scale right now and focus on how I "feel." Like I said, I am adjusting to earlier mornings and the most notable difference is that my belly feels less bloated and more soothed by the increased veg. I was feeling like such a swollen and tight balloon all the time. These successes are enough for me right now.

Have a great weekend everyone!

You sound like you're doing great.

I initially found the early morning routine difficult, but now I love it. It's so good when I can be the first one up and have that peaceful time to exercise, meditate--whatever I need that morning.

Isn't it great when the kids begin to eat real food, it makes life easier. Now if I can just get DS to take a turn cooking!

You are doing an amazing job! Plus, you're getting your family healthy too, by preparing all that healthy food at home.

Don't beat yourself up over the Reese's Cup. At least it's out of the house now! emoticon

I'm with you on avoiding the scale if you think it will discourage you. I've done that a couple of times and it's been a nice break.

    Keep up the great work!
