DAY 8: Travel Update

Friday, January 09, 2015

Day 8 is coming a day late. I spent all day yesterday flying back from Greece. I expected to be home in time to write something late last night but a four hour delay in Chicago foiled those plans.

Good points about the trip:
1. We made it home safely.
2. Everything was in order at home when we arrived. (no broken water pipes, etc.)
3. The kids were very well behaved (for the most part) and cooperative.
4. I did not overeat on the airplane or in the airport.
5. I got in my 10,000 steps.

There are really no bad points other than the fact that I am tired and nonetheless have to jump right back into work responsibilities as classes begin on Monday. Eating well on these travel days has often been a challenge for me but the last few trips I feel like I have made better choices so I am very grateful for these small victories. I would have enjoyed a hamburger and fries for dinner, but I went with a grilled chicken salad instead. It was fine. I really wanted to munch when I finally arrived home, but I had a glass of water and went to bed. Nothing earth shattering but these are not the choices I have usually made!

Those are great choices! I am in the process of reducing how much sugar I put in my tea in the morning. I'm hoping to get it down to zero. May have to change the kind of tea I drink, though. Or maybe I will allow myself a spiced Chai with sugar and milk once a week or something like that. It's just too much sugar to eat every day. I am also ordering water instead of sweet tea if I eat out. Restaurant sweet tea has a huge amount of sugar! Your good choices help me make good choices, too.
