Work and boredom

Wednesday, January 07, 2015

I don't know how to handle boredom without eating my way out of it. Since I have finished school for the time being, I don't have that work to do. And my job has entered its winter hours so my schedule has been cut way back. (And I still wonder why now when I asked for a lighter schedule while I was in school and didn't get it.) I've spent the last two days at home "wasting" time and I don't like it.

I hear the fridge calling me to "just open the door and grab whatever is at hand." The cookies that are left over are whispering "you know where we're hiding, come find us." And the fast food places have sent out search teams to lure me back into their doors. I'm fighting it with my trusty new water bottles and my wonderful purple zebra-striped water cup. The fruits and veggies are holding their own against the sweets with back-up from the hummus and Greek yogurt. I'm not letting food fuel my boredom.

As for exercise, I'm probably the only one in the house who was happy it snowed. I was so excited for the excuse to shovel instead of doing a workout DVD. Yes the driveway is much longer when covered in snow and my muscles were wondering what was going on BUT my brother and I had it cleared in about 15 minutes thus my streak is still going. But that was yesterday so I guess better go turn on that DVD so I move something other than my fingers over the computer keyboard.

Good luck to all with their goals and streaks. I'm motivated, are you?

Would some yoga take up enough time? I have crocheting I could do or a garden/flower binder I've been meaning to do. I have sewing and darning but this is my to do list. You have anything you'd like to do?

So glad to hear from you, it's been a little while again. Wonderful that your journey is going so well right now. Sorry about the boredom, I hear those voices too, unfortunately I've been giving in. Must get that junk out of the house. Have a wonderful end to your week.

Shoveling snow sounds like a pretty good workout. Sounds like you're recognizing what triggers you and how to counteract that. emoticon
