Einstein's definition of INSANITY and my weight loss journey...

A few days ago I was having a discussion with my brother. Both he and I have had the same pattern over the years. Gain weight, cut back on calories and junk food, lose weight then gain it all back again, or close. This up and down spiral has been our reality for decades.
And it's not the first time we were having this conversation. It's a well known fact that history tends to repeat itself!

Except this time, all of a sudden my brother quoted Einstein, and the conversation took quite a turn. His quote was Einstein's definition of the word INSANITY! In Einstein's words, Insanity is defined as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." How true is that!!!

So I've been thinking about it, and when it comes to weight loss, I fit the profile for Insanity!!
Since the age of 18 I've been doing the same thing over and over, and I'm still hoping that by some miracle, I will achieve my goal and stop gaining and losing weight. I'm now 44 and guess what, I'm still overweight!!!

My brother went on to suggest a new approach. For so many years he and I have been wanting to CUT BACK. Yes, cut back on chips, crackers, carbs, etc. So he suggested with a weird look on his face, why not try something new and start ADDING!!

Blah, he said!! Adding more food when we need to cut back since we eat so much?!!

No... I very quickly understood what he meant. ADDING, in fact, means adding little things which are so good for us, but which we deprive ourselves of, for so many unjustified reasons.
Adding, in fact, means the following: adding an hour of sleep every night, adding a walk in the evening instead of lying on the couch, adding salad or vegetables to our plates, adding an apple for a snack, adding a smile on our face when we feel the motivation slipping. This automatically leads to adding self-esteem, self-love and pride.

So... maybe I'm not so insane after all, because I think this makes a whole lot of sense, and I am trying it. This can only lead to success, as long as I ADD CONFIDENCE AND CONSISTENCY!!

ADDING... Yes, brilliant!!
