Small Changes Challenge - Days 6 and 7

Tuesday’s task was to make some ‘me’ time. Well – as I am retired that is only difficult if I have a lot on. When I’m really busy, stopping never seems to be an option until I’ve got through everything that is needed. I probably need to make some changes there but the for the rest of my life taking time out is not difficult so altho I’ve taken the ideas on board I haven’t actually practised because yesterday was a ‘day off’ anyway. WILL, however, try and remember next time I’m pressed.
Today is ‘Catch some ZZZs’ Easier said than done in my case unfortunately. I never have trouble GOING to sleep but some nights I wake anytime between 3.0 and 5.0 a.m. or even earlier occasionally, and I’m wide awake as if it were morning. I call it the ‘ping’ syndrome – in other words, some internal alarm clock PINGs and more often than not it’s the end of my night and leaves me with a wrecked day. There are various handy hints in the Spark article accompanying today’s tasks – establish a regular and timely bedtime routine – make some warm milk – do something gentle away from the bedroom and various other things that we've probably all tried. My good Spark friend Caz has various tricks to send herself back to sleep but although they often work they’re not infallible and so she would tell you – as nothing seems to be. This morning I 'pinged' at 6.0 which is fine with me - seemed quite civilised! Along with so many others I’d love to find a permanent solution to this problem which is one of my biggest.
All in all the Small Changes recommended are useful and are making me more aware of the points in my life where changes could usefully be made especially as they are backed up with practical advice.

    I haven't had a restful sleep through the night in 20 years! I wake up every 2-3 hours, but have no problem getting asleep at first or after those up and down times. I have those arthritic bones and fibromyalgia which is the main reason for sleepless tossing and turning. I have a crazy schedule anyway, always have, with night workers in my family most of my life...so love to stay up late! So, sleep in really late everyday...retired life is the best so I can do that!!! emoticon emoticon
    I try stretching before bed, I may read or play a game on my smart phone (nothing too mind boggling, just to get my mind off things I was faced with during the day). Eating cereal right before bed too helps me get so sleepy too (milk). Sleep is something that each person struggles with one way or another...I just accept it, don't stress about it and do the best I can and sleep as long as I can. But, that is easier said than done sometimes, right? Hang in there. emoticon

    I have times where I go through this same sleeping issue. It was much better for quite a while, but has seemed to come back again this week. I sure hope it passes quickly because I feel so much better when I sleep through the night. Good Luck!

    6 am is indeed more civilised!
    Pete was only saying earlier he had not heard of 6.30 AM! Did it actually exist! Well you know when he rises LOL
