2015--Day 4 (They need to make boots for bigger calves!!)

Sunday, January 04, 2015

First off, my rant. I needed some new boots to wear to work. The only other ones I have have this velvet type stuff on the sole, more for looks than functionality, you know? We live in the woods, so on top of snow, we get a lot of rain and mud, so it does get a little slick. Now, that doesn't mean I didn't want to forgo looks altogether. I've always been a fan of those high on the calf boots. Well, I went boot shopping yesterday. I must have tried on every pair of boots in that store that I remotely liked, and guess what...not a single one of the calf-high boots I tried on would zip up over my calf. I was so discouraged by the time I got through. I did settle for some ankle high boots that were ok, but I was still disappointed.

However, other than letting that discourage me, I'm going to let it motivate me. One of my goals for this weight loss journey will be to get a nice pair of calf-high boots next winter. Some people have goal outfits...I have goal boots!

Otherwise, I'm still not feeling very well. Not sick enough to go see about, but just enough to be annoying. Throat hurts, head feels weird, general icky feeling. Still trying to watch what I eat, though, and drinking water. Today's goal is going to be to watch portion sizes. I always overfill my plate, so I'm breaking out the trusty measuring cups today (and everyday from here on out).

It's back to work tomorrow for me, as well. I haven't been at work since December 18. I don't wanna go!! emoticon I've had so much fun being off work and spending time with my little ones. Plus....where the heck did Christmas go????? I love Christmas time, and I'm so sad to see it gone.

I hope you guys are having a great day and great start to 2015! I know these blogs aren't very exciting, but I think it helps me to put my thoughts down to review. Thanks for letting me ramble!

There are a few manufacturers that actually make tall boots with for real calve sizes. And if you have muscular calves from exercising , well, lots of luck. I even had to have my riding boots enlarged with a sizable strip of leather added to the back. I was lots thinner back then. Good luck.
