Negative is Easy!

Why is it so much easier to think negative thoughts than it is to think positive thoughts? A quick example:
I get on Facebook this morning and there is a shout out to all the people who competed in the throw down at another box this weekend. It was teams of four athletes(2 guys and 2 girls). I saw the names and I instantly started to go negative.
They are all young. They are all uberly fit. They are all cardio machines...blah, blah, blah. Not a single positive thought. I had to stop myself! I had to make myself say they all worked hard. They are all in really good shape. Not all of them are young.
I corrected myself. I have a competition on the 17th and I want to do the best that I can. I need to work hard, eat right, and be positive. Negative anything just kills the things around it. Negative thoughts give the motivation for crappy eating. Negative thoughts put out a vibe towards others that can make you difficult to be around. Negative thoughts are not the thoughts of someone who inspires others.
Positive thoughts can be hard. Being happy for the person who beat you can be hard. Finding the happiness in being overweight and struggling to get happy can be hard. But it is a heck of a lot easier/smoother/enjoyable to find the good things in yourself and others. Negative thoughts are like a heavy weight that make stepping forward even more difficult. I need to make sure I'm not carrying around the weight of negative thoughts. Besides who wants the extra weight when they are deadlifting?
I want to be a strong person!
