Running in a Winter Wonderland
Saturday, January 03, 2015
I woke up very early today, for a Saturday, and was unable to get back to sleep, so I got up. It was still very dark and the forecast called for snow/rain/freezing rain. I did some chores and as it got light, I checked out the weather. No snow yet, but my phone said it was 27 degrees. Brrr.... still waiting for the snow so I had an excuse to NOT go outside in it. Well it didn't snow so I put on my underarmour, earmuffs, gloves, and my trusty Garmin Forerunner and off I went. I'm doing four miles now when I have a day off work since I have the time, and I was really pleased with how I felt. I have been running the entire way OUT from my house (slight downgrade), then walk/running the way back (slight upgrade). I only wanted to die once I think. I warmed right up about 10 minutes in, and ended up taking my gloves and earmuffs off because I was too warm.
I guess my rambling point is this: I really don't like to exercise. I don't like going outside in the cold. But I never regret it. I need to hold onto that feeling to get me out there when I really do not want to go.
It's already a good day, simply because I sucked it up and went outside for an hour.
oh and it's snowing now.
