The power of the drop

Thursday, January 01, 2015

I had planned to do 5K a day in 2015 and then realized that the change in my work schedule was not going to happen. My first thought was "well, there goes any chance of getting my miles in daily with all that I have to do...." and the defeatist come out.

I allowed the defeatist to sit in the "well that sucks" space for a while.

But then I took a different turn - I decided that if 5K a day was not going to happen due to schedule I would do at least 1 purposed mile a day and shoot for 10K steps a day overall. It may not be all I wanted but is better than quitting, better than just giving up, it is better than quitting.

I look at the weight I have to lose and know that while the number is large - small and steady changes to me can change the overall picture. Mountains are carved by water - even a small drip over and over and create great things - just look at stalagmites and stalactites - they are proof that a single drop of water dropped over and over again can create great things.

I will be that small drop of water that keeps dripping away and eventually changes the shape of this mountain.
