The main thing that has plagued me in my past efforts is the idea of "normal" eating versus eating to lose pounds. Before Spark People, I had a huge on or off mentality which is a very real way to ADD pounds. When on... Watching what I eat and how much, but when off... Thinking I should go ahead and enjoy what I had been denying myself. Setting a "back on" date, I would overeat and pile on the pounds, thinking "I can just take these extras off when back on" but not always being successful. That, of course prompts a new "on" .... As soon as I get rid of (eat) whatever may be around that I should not eat then... Yo yo yo yo
Now, I may have on and off times, but the difference is that the off times are a day or maybe more and the whole time knowing I cannot (don't want to) just throw caution to the wind! I find it easier to give away or divide and freeze portions for later if the food is more a delectable delight than it is nutritious. I have been successful in just holding my weight where it is and not gaining, but I need to get serious about taking off the rest of the pounds that will take me to my goal!
