It's a crime...

On December 10, my house was broken into. Fortunately, my husband, my cat, and I are all safe. It's been a rather traumatic event. The burglars stole my laptop, iPad, jewelry, camera, and Christmas presents. I'm also afraid that they stole my identity. My laptop had my bank statements, credit card statements, digital copies of our wills, and of course, all my photos. Yes, I have a backup of everything - fortunately. And even though I had passwords on everything, my IT department tells me that it is really easy to break into a laptop that has been password protected. I spend all day, every day, cleaning up the chaos. I've had to close all my accounts and reopen new ones. I will have to constantly monitor any activity with our social security numbers for the rest of our lives. I had a security system on our home, but now I'm beefing it up. It's been a huge inconvenience, but I need to remember to be grateful because things could certainly be worse. This shall pass, and life will roll on. We still have each other, our health, our family, our friends, our education, and our home. Material things can be replaced. Today, I am grateful for all the things that cannot be stolen by a criminal! Wishing all of you a belated merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
