Day 28 soup's on!

Yesterday was a snack day, nothing too bad, some popcorn, and some chocolates....nothing crazy!

I did try to get in more steps than I do on my rest days, mostly because I've not been hitting 70,000 steps a week, and I had no problem hitting that in the summer! Guess I'm just more active when it's warm and sunny out, go figure! I was close to 9,000 steps which is pretty good considering my scratchy throat kept me from going skiing with Larry. He said the conditions weren't as good as the last time we went out, and he hit a patch of ice on the drive back and fishtailed a bit, so probably just as well I skipped it!

What I did do was walk around the house and back yard a lot. Had my podcasts going, and just walked around, picked up some prickly weeds and threw them away as well, so it wasn't completely without purpose!

I really wanted soup too, the cold air outside and the scratchy throat really put me in a soup kind of mood, so I pulled a recipe off my "Soup's On!" Pintrest board www.pinterest.com/kaymat
and got it going. It was really quick, although I pretty much had to substitute all the ingredients! It was a miso vegetable dumpling soup, I used the miso, and pretty much improvised from there. But hey, it's soup! I added veggies I had in the crisper, carrots, mushrooms, green pepper,arugula, a couple of green onions and a couple of tomatoes. I used chicken stock instead of plain water, as I wanted more flavor, and happen to have a lot of chicken stock in the cupboard! I also had a bunch of frozen chicken potstickers from Costco, so I used those instead of veggie dumplings. This soup was really good! I put up 3 servings for lunches...may have to have some today! Broth based soup just tastes so good when you have a sore throat.

    That's funny that your scratchy throat put you in a Miso soup kind of mood as since I've been sick I've been using quite a bit of Miso. For some reason this has just sounded really good.

    I've been eating much healthier than I was before I got sick during the midst of holidays and abundance (I went way over-board and practically out the window) didn't track anything too horrified to even think about it.

    Too scratchy of a throat to go emoticon ! Oh dear...

    My illness started out with just scratchy and has literally put me down (dang it) during my holiday and I have barely been sick at all for about the past year or so). But I'd been wanting to organize things & so perhaps *when my headache subsides I'll get off of my laying down position and tackle some of that.

    I'm really trying to stretch and have gone on a walk out-side through all of this (will do another today when it warms up a bit but has been 19 degrees out and I've been running a temp.

    What are you using to track your steps? I've never really done that one... I use the GPS on my Spark People App for Distance for Walking, Running, Jogging whatever I'm capable of. That is all that I track walks before and after work or longer stuff on the weekends. Did you invest in purchasing a Fitbit?

    My sister brought over the strongest Ginger Soup yesterday to aid me in my recovery.. And when I mean GINGER I mean GINGER, GINGER soup goodness!
