Day 18 you can't control the reactions....

Friday, December 19, 2014

Well, I had set this month up from the start so that my birthday would be a snacking day, and here it was, and I felt so full after the chicken and potatoes Larry served up that I didn't even finish the salad! So it turned into a non-snack day. I'll take it. And I'll have the salad for lunch today, so don't think it will go to waste!

Yesterday was also a run/walk day, I ran in to work, and this was my fastest run so far for the month, just under 11 min mile! I think because I left later than I planned, I picked the pace up, I thought just a little, but I've been doing 12.5 minute miles or slower, so that's a pretty significant increase in speed. I think I need to push myself more on the running speed! Then again, I want to avoid injury, so there's also that.

Today I have a sauna/massage scheduled, so I'm trying to figure out if I can get in my planned ST at the gym. I'm inclined to skip it, I've been feeling a little run down the past couple of days, and I didn't get in my yoga yesterday, so I'm thinking of pulling out a longer DVD, and doing that instead. It would fit right in this morning, giving me some mat time, and some rest from more serious workouts!

Next week is going to be a bit tricky with Christmas, I found out the 4:30pm and the 7am Pilates are both cancelled, on Christmas eve, so I may sign up for the 6am class. It's just so early! But I'm up that time anyway, so I think I'll go for it. I wanted to try it anyway. Then Christmas would be a running day, so I have to decide if I will just go for a run around the neighborhood before we head out for my sisters...and who knows what will happen on Friday!

Similar issue the following week, although I haven't checked into the Pilates schedule. I'm sure the 4:30 Weds is cancelled. I'll have to find out about the rest. I suppose that's what the holidays are about, being flexible with our schedules, and enjoying the variety!

Oh, I listened to a good podcast yesterday too, a nice treat for my birthday, Alison Rosen is your new best friend with Duncan Trussell (. It was put out pm Nov 2nd if you want to look for it. Very enlightening, but the thing I got out of it was a statement Duncan made along the lines of "you can only control your actions, you can't control the reactions". I've been so focused on the scale numbers lately, and frustrated that they aren't more in line with what I think they should be, but I can't control the number the scale puts out. I can only control what I do, exercise, eat whole foods, and get on with it! The scale will do it's own thing, and I do think it will eventually give me better numbers when my body has become accustomed to my current regimen. So I need to stop fretting over it! Of course this statement is useful in many more situations than my silly scale issue....but that's where I'm applying it right now! I'll keep it handy for more weighty issues (pun not intended!)
