While You Were Sleeping

Monday, December 15, 2014

Went back to the docs today for my son's re-eval. Both seemed pleased with his progress. He may be able to go back to school Jan. 5th. Next appointments on the 29th & 30th. The neurologist said it could take up to 9 months for the brain to be healed. He is still sleeping about 12 hours at night, and taking morning and afternoon naps. Before the concussion, he was struggling with insomnia. Definitely not a problem now. The more he sleeps, the better he heals, something to do with complete mental rest. He is allowed to start playing simple board and card games on Christmas day, so he is looking forward to that. Nothing that requires much thinking or any strategy. That will be both a treat and a relief, because we have always spent the holidays playing lots of games, and he was worried he would miss out on that. This evening he helped me make rolo pretzel treats, a holiday tradition of ours. It was so nice to be able to do something normal together.
