Beck, Chapter 3 Tasks 1 and 2

Judith Beck (JB) states in Chapter 3 that in Stage 1 we will start learning and practicing the skills we will need for lifelong weight loss and maintenance.
Task 1 is gathering your supplies.
A set of 3x5 cards for my Response cards.
A set of blank business-sized cards. (I'm going to use more 3x5 cards.)
A digital scale (mine weighs to the nearest tenth of a pound).
Graph paper (I can copy her graph page out of the book but plan to continue using weightgrapher.com)
A small box for the box to store positive memories about weight loss milestones. (Did not bother with this the first time, but got it this time around.)
A larger box to store Distractions (also did not do this the first time but have it this time).
Multiple sets of measuring spoons and cups. Yup.
Digital food scale. Yup.
Smaller plates and bowls, smaller forks and spoons. Yup -- I often use smaller plates and always use a cereal spoon rather than a soup spoon.
Task 2 - Set a Modest Weight-Loss Goal
While I would like to lose 12 pounds, I will start out trying to lose FIVE, as she suggests.
Check, check, and check. These two tasks were very easy but with the Season of Eating just ahead I know my challenges are just beginning! If I can get through the holidays and not gain weight or feel deprived, it will certainly be a huge milestone and a card for my Memory Box!!
