good morning! it's COLD here--about 25 degrees with a strong wind, but I got my clothes on and went to the park and RAN. really felt good to break through the week of inertia. I had been doing indoor exercise every day, but if I don't go outside and run, it just doesn't feel right. I have to give credit to my friend, ben. he facebooked me a couple days ago wanting to get together--we haven't seen each other in awhile. ben is a dear young man in his early twenties. we met and bonded over our mutual love of gardening, and have found a kindred spirit in each other. ben just finished his bachelors and has a job of head of horticulture at a small botanic garden in Michigan. its life coming full circle for him, as this place is where he found his love of gardens as a child, and has been deeply devoted to it ever since. I fully expect him to become the director one day.
we met at Panera, and rob came along and ate with us and then went shopping while we visited. in the two hours we were together, we covered everything from the loss of my mom and his grandma, and the loss of ben's beloved dog, angus. from there we went on to friends, plants, all the future plans for the botanic garden, college, home improvement projects, running and everything in between. not only was it wonderful to just catch up, it kind of jolted me out of my stagnation--hence the morning run. didn't go fast or far (2 miles) but it didn't take a lot of mental energy to get dressed and go. I hope seeing me was as helpful to him as seeing him was to me. hope we can get together again soon!
vet visit today, all the 10 zillion chocolate cookies for Phyllis's open house are baked, and the forth side of the tea tray is done--now its on to the center. have a great day!

It's nice for Ben to have you as a surrogate Mom; you'll make a great mentor for him. emoticon emoticon
