Almost there...

Monday, November 24, 2014

I had my last long run this past weekend. I have 7 miles to do this coming Saturday, but honestly, that's no longer a "long" run. Don't get me wrong... it IS a long run, but it doesn't FEEL long to me anymore. Once I back off the mileage, it will someday be a long distance, but not now!

I'm going to run either tonight or tuesday night and then do a local Turkey Trot on Thursday. Saturday is 7 miles and then one week of pure "REST" YEAH!! Well, I'll probably do some walking and good stretching, but no running.

My mom & aunt are coming into town to see me run. They're going to be on the course cheering me on and then they and DH will be at the finish line and they can carry me back to the hotel. haha

My local running group, San Antonio RoadRunners, just posted that they'll be doing more training right after the holidays. One of the programs is built to increase speed, so I'm going to do that one. I'm looking forward to working on speed and shorter distances. They'll also be doing a walk to run 5K, and half marathon program. If you're in the San Antonio area and interested in joining, let me know!

So dud you do a 10 mile? Or a 14? I know you said previously you were likely not going to do the 14.

And damn it ... 7 miles is LOOONGGG hahahaha.

So question first - do you have an idea of what kind of speed you are going for? When I read stuff that talks about speed, its generally about training different ways to increase speed. None ever really talk about what kind of speed to eventually aim for. I envision never being able to get to the 7 minute mark. It will be a SUPER stretch to even to even get to an 8 minute-mile. But I can see a 9...maybe even a 8:45. But I really don't know. Am I shooting too high? Too low? Can this even be figured out? Sorry for the questions ... I was just wondering if you've ever seen anything on this.

Next - Thursday ... what time is your Turkey Trot? It's a 5K I take it? My Tofurkey Trot starts at 9am I believe. Yours will likely be over by then. But if you post something good about your run I will too!

    Keep on truckin'!
A best friend runs. One time he mapped and ran for 13 miles, except he realized at 1/2 way he had done 13 miles one way! He'd gotten in the groove and oops! May you avoid this, please!
