thursday--more adventures with patrick

good morning. well yesterday was humming along okay--I made it to the little amish store to pick up cocoa powder and a few other things (had to make a detour to get around a messed up railway crossing --the gate was stuck). on the way home, stopped at Phyllis's and tell her I wanted one of the staub dutch ovens she is getting rid of for a ridiculously low price. then home to begin my work--when Patrick's mom calls. she was very worried about him. so I called him and he didn't sound too bad to me--but the battery on his phone went out, so I loaded shambles in the car and drove to his house. called him back and managed to connect with him. convinced him to get dressed and come out and go for a drive. he laid in the back and talked to shambles while I drove to the state park and we drove all around in there. he didn't really talk to me, just snuggled with shambles, which was fine. after awhile he said he was ready to go home and was yawning and saying he wanted to sleep. this is good, because he hadn't slept for more than a couple hours in the last 3 days. hadn't eaten or drunk much either, but he found one of the unopened bottles of water I keep in the van and started drinking it. dropped him off and called his mom to let her know that as far as I could tell, he was okay. I have been checking on facebook and haven't seen any posts from him, so I am hoping that means he went home and fell asleep.
today is my day to go see dad, and the weather looks like its going to be okay. making him some of the old fashioned applesauce cookies that he likes. still trying to find conversation starters that work--like the old photos. maybe if rob takes a woodworking magazine or something they can talk about that.
anyway--I got a small painting done and the basecoat of paint on the tea tray, so at least I am making slow progress! have a great day!

    Applesauce cookies sound good!

Hope you had a good visit with your Dad.

You've been very busy I see. I was impressed with your mosaic room. Good job for being such a good friend to Patrick, I hope he feels better soon.

I actually strolled through Shambles, Yorkshire, a street area just outside the walls of York, in 1978. We were visiting my in-laws, who lived in Leeds, and we were on a road trip. It seemed like you could touch the stores on either side of the narrow streets. Anyway, I'm glad Patrick (whoever he is) enjoyed the road trip with your Shambles. Have a great day, and the rest of the week too. emoticon emoticon

It was nice that Patrick found comfort with Shambles. I hope he's okay.

Good luck with your dad today. You can only try. I'm spending the day with my dad -- and stepmom and stepsister -- today. He has a day of appointments, we can't leave stepmom alone and my stepsister offered to drive them over. She lives closer and the Clinic is in the town I live in so it's two round trip drives for me when I do it. I don't mind but I don't mind if someone else offers too.

Have a good day!! Glad the weather will be good for your travels.
