Grapefruit Time

Saturday, November 15, 2014

Yesterday while Gwen and I were outside a grapefruit fell off our tree and rolled around. We ran and got it. No wormholes, no big flaws. It looked mostly yellow without much green. I hadn't thought they were ripe yet, but must be. So we cut it. And we picked one more just to compare it to the one that had fallen off the tree.

Our trees are little, just a few years old. Last year this tree only produced one edible grapefruit, but it is growing. We took our prizes inside and cut them open. Gwen looked and looked again at them. They have more seeds than commercial varieties.

Gwen gives them the sniff test:

I enjoyed the pucker power of these fruits, although Gwen liked them much better once I put just a touch of sugar on them:

If we have a freeze soon, the fruit will get sweeter. Think we'll wait to pick the rest.

Updates: Ran 5.75 miles today, 3 miles of it with no walk breaks. Beautiful day.
Did not do horrible with my eating challenge yesterday, but slept well and know I can do even better today and tomorrow.
