Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

I've been thinking lately about jumping up my program a bit. It has been pretty easy for me to stay on track lately, so it's time for a challenge. We are leaving for a long trip 2 weeks from today and I want to feel comfortable that I will stay on program, and fit into my favorite pair of jeans. They are fitting now, and it would be nice to keep it that way. emoticon

As usual, just when I start thinking this way, my BLC Azure team comes along with a challenge that offers points to do what I was contemplating. This week I can get 2 points for stepping outside my comfort zone and blogging about it. emoticon

My comfort zone for food right now is following the SP plan of 50/30/20 carbs, fats, protein. I eat low sodium and high fiber. I also exercise 550-600 minutes a week. Starting today, I am going to go low carb on South Beach. I already know that my body responds well to South Beach or Atkins, especially my BP and BS. I am also going to up my exercise to 650-700 minutes. I started today with a very energetic 60 minutes of water aerobics and will be taking a minimum 60 minute walk soon.

One thing I am excited about is that my teammate Dollfacedx posted a recipe for omelet muffins that will be a perfect item for my low carb eating. We also have a freezer full of salmon and chicken that I want to finish off in the next 2 weeks. Seems like it is all perfect timing.

I would love a buddy to do one or the other with me. Anyone willing to do South Beach or Atkins, or to up their fitness minutes? emoticon

I sure need to up my exercise mins. I don't think I can keep up with you though but starting tomorrow I will shoot for 40 mins!

I'll get back with you at the end of the day tomorrow.

I've never been on the S. Beach diet. I'll have to check that out over the weekend,

Susan!!! You took the words right out of my mouth!!!

I was going to ask on the board if I could count doing my low carb/no sugar during Thanksgiving as something out of my comfort zone.

You bet I want to buddy up. Together we can make our trips healthy, fun, but a NO Overeating, low carb adventure.

Oh yes, let's make plans! emoticon

You sound so determined. You are going to make it happen!

I am in for upping my fitness minutes. A friend on another team has been doing a Jessica smith Fall challenge (for 20 days). I started on Monday and I am about 9 days behind her. So I am doing something everyday (not just the classes that I had been doing at the Y). I am on day 3 - 17 more to go! I don't do very well on south Beach or Atkins (don't feel good if I stay on it for even a few days) plus I know that I am going to eat some carbs over thanksgiving.
