Yes I'm still here

Monday, November 10, 2014

I have not been really active here. Let's face it, I have been absent. Reading a few blogs but not posting anything.

I had surgery Sept 16th. should have been back to work 4 to 6 weeks after. Well, I'm still home. Going to the local health center 7 days a week to have the mesh taken out, getting the 2 sinuses that have formed cleaned and getting a new mesh.

from the first infection, to the trip to the hospital, to the second infection, to the health clinic visits and now, probably a new bacteria to kill; I have not been a happy camper. Not only I have not been back to work, but I had to cancel my classes at the U.

I have an appointment with the surgeon today. We will try and figure out what is happening and plan a treatment. I had expected to have some problems due to the loss of a few lymph nodes and the radiation treatment 2 years ago. But I never expected this. I don't know exactly why this is bothering me that much. For God sake! It's not like I have cancer again! it is only a wound that is taking a rather long time to heal.

I haven't been on a scale lately. My mind has been preoccupied lately. Now I am almost afraid to get on it.

So I am making that promise to myself to get on a scale in the next 24 hours and start making sure I don't do more damages to my weight loss..

On another note, fall is here. I love the colors of fall. the leaves that are changing and falling. Soon enough we will have snow and I will be glad to have the snow. Yes I am guilty of liking our winters, I am guilty of liking to shovel and loving the white blanket that covers everything.

I have taken 2 classes for the next semester : Introduction to IT engineering and M├ęthodes de communications. Since they have credited me for the classes I had to cancel, it is already paid for. I can't wait to start again. I loved going to classes in September. There is a good energy there.

This is getting to be a long blog. Sorry about that.

Talk soon!

Oh my dear friend, I cannot imagine how tough it must be going through all of this. So much of it, as you say, you were not expecting and that has to have made it all the much more difficult to deal with. I am sorry that you are having to put up with these infections and the prospect of not knowing how soon your body will heal. But it will heal. And I am truly sorry that you had to cancel your classes for the time being. It is obvious how much they mean to you. Yet, it really is just for the time being and soon you will be making tracks, as they say. You are one very intelligent lady and no temporary delay will ever hold you back from reaching your goals in life.

Now, I also agree with Ken, when he advises you not to worry about the weight but to simply concentrate on getting your health right back where it needs to be. Just think, this really will pass ... and - You WILL reap the rewards of your surgery - You Will return to classes as soon as you get turned around - AND - any weight you might gain during this recovery period, you will soon get rid of once you are well and out there shoveling that lovely snow.

BTW, like you, I kinda like the white stuff, too. Well, sending you warm thoughts and best wishes today. I hope you will keep blogging during this down time and let us know how things are going.

Don't worry about the weight too much, just concentrate on doing what you need to do to get rid of the infection and be healthy!! Everything else will work itself out :)
