"What Doesn't Kill You ..."

Monday, November 10, 2014

On Saturday afternoon, I went to TriRock Clearwater Triathlon Packet Pickup. I came home and started my Pre-Tri Prep, dress rehearsing my Transition on my living room floor. During the day, I was not feeling 100% due to a permanent condition I thought I had control over. Reality check! It started to weigh on my mind. I couldn't sleep that evening.
At 2:00am Sunday morning, I had to make a very difficult decision. It was extremely hard to accept but it was the right thing to do. I had based it on past discussion with my training partners, experience, and reason. I also have the highest respect for the challenges of a Triathlon.

This morning, I have no regrets as I will race another day! I don't accept excuses or failure. I know now it was neither. A definition of common sense is "...good sense and sound judgment in practical matters." I also realized my priorities to my family.
I am stronger today because of the decisions I made. Stay strong, stay focused, and be well.

Much love..Monty

I'm sorry you had to make that tough decision but I'm sure it was the right one for you at that moment in time. Hope that you are able to get back on the horse, so to speak, as soon as possible.
    Take care Monty!

The hard decisions like this one are the hardest for sure. But right is right and wrong is wrong and you did RIGHT! And as you said you are stronger because of it....

Taking care of yourself includes knowing "when to fold 'em." I'm glad you know when.

Wise decision to respect the current situation and not push through regardless, I have something to learn from you. I have pushed and suffered consequences, I get an adrenaline rush from going ahead and sticking to the plan, a kind of heroic feeling, and have suffered needless injury as a result
And good point, there are plenty more races in your future
