Beware of So-Called "Friends" Bearing Gifts!

Tuesday, November 04, 2014

Now has NOT been a secret that I've begun my weight loss "journey" within my family. I AM getting rid of the pounds (and the tape measure confirms with a big: Amen!) So could someone PLEASE tell me "why" a family member would bring me "Snickers" candy on Halloween KNOWING that we do not celebrate Halloween plus Snickers is my favorite candy bar? I was tempted to throw Holy Water on her (I would like to say that I turned the other "cheek", so to say, but being honest....I just couldn't find THAT bottle)!

I am beginning to hear the "concerned for my health" talk; for example: "Don't you think that you've lost enough now"? Here's a GOOD one! : "You're losing that beautiful butt (my husband says it's fine with who cares?) it's getting smaller"! (That's the point, crazy). Just to put honest concern at bay I AM seeing a doctor who weighs me (on the 10th of each month) and makes sure everything is going as HEALTHY as possible.

I've heard of people that can sabotage you in "things" but really? I look and feel better! I can walk and my energy has increased. I'm a long way off from looking like I need a meal...ugh!
The only thing that I can assume is that they're jealous or afraid. Some people want you to stay as-you-are and are afraid of change! No more sitting in the house eating "food/snacks" and watching tele' all day, or cooking up a meal to feed an Army (which we don't have at home) with them; I want some sunshine on my face and enjoy the world. Why don't they? emoticon

Well, as mom used to say: "Judas was a part of Jesus' crowd, too".

I guess I've found mine but I have that "bottle" at arms length now! emoticon

When I recently saw my friend who has lost weight and looks great, I was chagrined that I actually started out by trying to explain and almost apologize that I hadn't! I was embarrassed for myself by her success! We women especially really don't know how to offer congratulations and warm support to each other very well. Everything is so personalized to ourselves. I don't know if you ran into anything similar, but just keep up your work and your insight.

I think you have this all figured out. Alot of people are afraid that your relationship will change or that your change will highlight their flaws without realizing that this change in you is about you and has nothing to do with them. Sometimes people are also jealous but they are not willing to put in the work to change for themselves.
Keep that holy water handy because sadly, you will probably see this situation again. Just in case, keep the bottle opened. LOL. Hopefully, they will eventually come around. Maybe you will even inspire them to lead healtier lives aswell.
Keep pushing girl. Keep doing it for you, emoticon

You may be on to something when you say that they may be jealous or afraid. When people see you changing your habits to healthy ones they may want to change themselves but won't do what they need to do to change. Or, and sadly this is a big one, they are so jealous of your progress that they won't acknowledge it at all. But God tells us to rejoice in the accomplishments of others.

So, you keep going! I'm so proud of you that you can walk and your energy has increased. That's huge! And the looking and feeling better is the bonus!
