Blog about a time you exhibited super hero strength (mental or physical) you didn’t know you possessed until you had to use it. (200 pts)

Helen Parr came out in me when my DH was deployed to Kuwait among the first activations of the A-10s and we had a 15 month old son and 5 acres to take care of. I stepped up and rode out the 9 months he was deployed. I know that doesn’t sound like much time, but he was a reservist and they were not expected to be called to long-term active duty. Little did we know that today, 11 years later, that same A-10 unit would be gone 5 of the 11 years in active duty status to Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq. I’m so glad he was able to retire and get away from all that.

I am still shaking my head at the line about some DH's unit being deployed 5 out of the last 11 years... and yes 9 months is a long time, especially if you didn't expect it.. it must have been so hard... but as you said you stepped up and did what had to be done for yourself and your family... I am glad you realize that strength.. i am guessing you could have written about a lot of other times as well... but this was a good one for me to read.
