Thank you Birgit, Sparkpeople, Jorge Cruise, Dr. Axe, Jon Gabriel, Dr. Fuhrman, and Dr. Amen

I am only 10 lbs away from my goal weight and I want to give thanks and appreciation to all that got me this far. I am so grateful!

A year ago, after trying everything but nothing working, I tried Jorge Cruise and lost 15 lbs. I got off track for a few months and thought I would gain it all back but I did managed to keep off 10! What got me over the carb addition was Jorge's 2 min chocolate mug cake! Yuppie! It worked when I needed it! Thankfully the carb addition eventually goes away.

Again I began reading my books from the people mentioned above. I found that listening to Jon Gabriel's visualization was just what I needed to get over my plateau while I followed Jorge. Imagining me in my 20's really helped.

Soon I decided what I preferred to bacon was a Flexitarian diet (a vegetarian that occasionally eats a small amount of meat), and I won't eat beans and legumes until I reach my goal since they cause me to gain (sorry Dr. Fuhrman). When I feel the occasional urge, I do drink smoothies in the morning, with little fruit, mainly greens.

I love recipes from Dr. Amen's wife, Dr. Axe (also has great home remedies), and what I find on pinterest under paleo but for vegetables, not meat. I eat clean, organic, no preservatives or other chemicals, cruelty free if at all possible, and I continue to listen to movies on health and our food politics. I loved Food Matters, Fat, Sick and nearly Dead, and many many more.

Who motivated me the most to track my weight and food? Spark people, which held my hand during my whole journey. I made some dear friends and got the chance to communicate with others on the same journey as I am. Being 67 I learned fast that just counting calories did not do the trick, but without Sparkpeople I am not sure I would have even tried. I made friends, read blogs and tracked my food. I did learn that between 1000 and 1200 calories I lose the most weight (probably because of my age, it is lower than SP recommend). However, if I stick to low carbs it never hurt me to eat more, it just went more constantly down within that range. If I ate less or more I didn't gain, but I didn't lose either.

My last blog will be when I reach the last 10 lbs. with a total of 40 lbs, which is a lot for a 5'5" person. I am wearing size 6 (yuppie) but sometimes I still need a size 8 which hopefully will change once I lose 10 more lbs.

The best reward is that my face now looks like me instead of the chubby stranger and thanks to my daughter Birgit chasing me up and down the Swiss Alps, I feel like climbing mountains again.

I am so ecstatic about my new (or is it the old) me and I know if I can do it, you can too. Soon, well maybe not so soon but after a fabulous journey you too will be writing your thank-you blog! Just try out what works for you. I used my scales to see what works, and how I feel, and you can too! emoticon
