So, since I have a few moments of free time, I'm going to catch you up on another blog entry.
Let's go to last weekend. Not this past weekend, but the weekend of the 11th. I went to Cedar Point with some friends and was truly anticipating not riding any roller coasters because my friend Josh was not really a big fan. I , on the other hand, LOVE THEM! I love the thrill, the excitement, the anticipation, all of it!
Anyways, I managed to talk him onto a few rides. First, the matterhorn for fun. I like to giggle on rides---the fun of them just makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. Then, onto the Iron Dragon. Easy peasy, right! Then it was off to the corkscrew. Okay, we are building...right? We hit a few more small, spinney rides before going on the Gemini.
Now, he told me that there was NO WAY on Earth he was going to get on my favorite ride. The Millenium Force. I was sort of heartbroken, but I could deal.
So, we were headed to the front of the park and I see that there was only a 3o min wait. I think I might have wimpered at this point and possibly pouted because he agreed to hop on it. WHAT?!?!?!? Did my ears deceive me???? Really??????????
Yep, we hopped on that baby and let me tell you, Josh was seriously not a happy camper as we waited in line. Every time I tried to distract him or start conversation, he was NOT having it. Grumpy, cranky pants McGhee. But, I understood. I kept telling him that we didn't have to ride it and that we could easily get to the top and not ride. I wanted him to know that he always had the option and I would have supported it.....well, I may have said 'see ya' at the top of the line, but I would have seen him when I finished 2.5 minutes later. ;)
So, we rode it. SUCH a blast. Then we headed over to Mantis. LAME. So happy they are getting rid of that one. Then it was off to the new coaster, GateKeeper. Now, this was a thrill ride for sure!!
Let me say, I'm not ever scared and I swear I am having fun, but the picture I bought of the face they snapped is absolutely laugh out loud worthy!
Allow me to share:
So, if that didn't get you chuckling. Wait for it.
We then jetted off to the Maverick. In the dark. This was a pitch black ride. Now, I've ridden this one before and I really enjoy its 'dirty little secret' in the middle of the ride. It's a little jerky and a little quick to throw you around, but that's okay. I like this one. BUT, I have never ridden this in the dark. Let me tell you.....this changes everything. The amount of screaming that I did on this ride was insurmountable. I screamed from start to finish and so loudly and erratically that Josh was dying of laughter. He had his hand on my leg to try to calm my frightful shrieking, but it didn't help. Not being able to see and being thrown around was absolutely terrifying.
Now, he tells me it was the best time he ever had on a coaster. Hearing me cackle screaming like a zebra dying from being eaten alive. But wait, it gets better. Somehow, my tiny 32 year old self managed to get my hands into my arm restraints and I was cuffing my face like right out of a horror film. I don't know if this made me feel more secure and safe, but whatever it did, it sure made for a funny photo.
Yep, had to buy this one too.
All in all, it was my best time at Cedar Point yet. Absolutely freakin fantastic!!
Peace and love (and shrieking screams).
Happy early Halloween all!
