Making Take-Out At Home

Vegetarian Whole Wheat Barbecue Pizza Pita- that's my breakfast today. It's good with chicken or beef, too, but I don't happen to have any on hand right now. I love Barbecue Pizza, but it tends to be super expensive as a specialty dish - and can be sooo inexpensive and easy to make at home! I just made four at once! Some for now and some for later! mmmmm And so easy; spread some barbecue sauce on a ww pita, sprinkle on your toppings (this one has sauteed yellow bell peppers & onion, with shredded nacho cheese) and toss it in the oven until the cheese is melted. The hardest part is waiting for it to cool enough to eat!!! Pasta sauce works for regular pizza. Also because there's no meat on these, they travel well for work, whether I have access to fridge and microwave or not! If it needs to stay cold longer, freeze it and then allow it to thaw in your lunch bag.

I also enjoy making Caesar salad, taco salad, egg on an English muffin breakfast sandwiches, chicken "fried" rice, nachos, tacos, burgers and potato wedges... and my guys love these too! I used to work in a pub and would make the wing recipe for my hubby. He enjoyed it, but I haven't done that in years. We're just not wing people.

I love Sparkpeople for recipes!!! It is THE BEST online recipe source!!! Healthified White Trash Taco Salad?! I'm in love!!! mmmm I don't have access to restaurants that would make such things, so I discovered it here!!! One thing I do to make life easier, for example, when I need half an onion, I chop the other half for later. The sooner you use it, the better as onions tend to get stronger as they sit, chopped.

What's your favourite take-out that you make at home?! Do you do it for health reasons, to save money, both, or for other reasons? For me, the fact that I save money doing it for health reasons is a win-win!!! Often "healthy eating" is the more expensive option, but not always!!!
