Weekly Email & Blog Check-In

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Thursday, October 16, 2014

Hi Friends!

I'm creating this blog real quick to get the url for the weekly "Hello From SparkGuy" blog. We're going to start posting that email as a blog on the site this week as well.

I've learned that it's a real production creating an email to send out. I write the content, then Coach Jen does a quick edit to fix my grammar mistakes, and then I have to turn it into html and load it into our email system. Hands-on tech action :).

So, you can either wait until Sunday, or get a head start posting any highlights from this week or goals for next week.

Thanks a bunch to everyone who posted last week -- it was fun seeing more than 400 posts!

Chris (SparkGuy)

Got a fitbit for Christmas and it is really helping to hold me accountable to get my steps, to increase my steps each day, and if I'm just a little bit short of a goal it really helps me to push on to get it. It has been a great motivational tool for me! Have started exercising a couple days last week. Planning to increase that to a minimum of 4 or 5 days to get back into my exercise routine.

Hmm thought everything last week was ok until I stepped on scale. Apparently not. I am not going to panic and try not to get too disappointed

I'm so excited about being back on track. I weigh in every Thursday at my TOPS and either way, I'm feeling great about the steps I'm taking. Lots of changes to make, one change at a time!! Heading in the healthier direction.

Hello.. i'm back on the saddle again and I need prayers to keep my motivation up so I wont keep falling off the band wagon of my weight loss journey that ive struggled with for so long. my main accomplishment for this weekis that I finally was able to successfully do 5 minutes on the elliptical and wow I have never been able to do but 6 back and forth movements on the elliptical. and another achievement is that I put a measuring cup on my grocery lists so that I can start portioning my food better. take care everyone. emoticon emoticon

I just started the MOVE program with the VA and decided to use the spark app to help me track my calories and exercise because I do not like to have to write everything down this way makes it easier.

A few days ago I found the "join a race" on SparkPeople. I checked it out and found a 10k race with another woman signed up for it in my age group. This was a cool find as I've been wanting to run a 10k. I've run several 5k's so it's time for a challenge. Then I found a 10k training plan that fit me and I plotted it all out to be ready for the week of August 16th. Spark is great for motivation.

This week was challenging. I've been sick but still getting my workouts in at home. Hopefully by next week I'll be back in the gym...

Thank you so much for the motivational weekly blog. Just discovered it today.
Last week I was determined to begin again Tracking Daily---and doing more classes for
Silver sneakers and Fitness after 50. I feel better just making his decision and keeping it on my calendar. I need to lose weight again and feel lots better and accountable to myself. emoticon emoticon

I started doing leg lifts while brushing my teeth. I know it looks silly but I am alone after all! It's now a habit. Brushing my teeth is so boring.

Still quite a bit behind on the e-mails and therefore checking in quite late. For me, it's Thanksgiving Eve, and I just finished prepping 2 of my dishes for tomorrow, I still have one more to do in the morning. Lots of healthy foods. I like being able to lighten up everybody's dinner with healthy options. We got slammed with snow today. Made things a bit difficult for me as I still had a bit of grocery shopping to do. The car did not appreciate the snow. Nor did my daughter's boots, she slipped and fell at least 3 times. No injuries, thankfully, and no learning from her mistakes either, she's still running around carelessly.

Hi first time here, my name is Jill when I started with SP I could barely walk 10 minutes due to my handicaps. But now I am up to walking 2 hours for a total of 8300 steps emoticon Thank you spark guy!! If it wasn't for you I would still be wheel chair bound, now I use a cane and can accomplish so much more in life than I had ever expected.

Monday weigh in shows an "official" 90 pound loss to date. I posted new pics on my SP page. I hope to be at goal weight by next summer - nearly 6 years into my SP journey.

I've made it to the gym three out of four days this week so far. Had my Zumba instructor not cancelled class Monday morning I probably would have made it four out of four. I am discouraged that I didn't just go to the gym and get on the treadmill instead of sleeping in. I am not beating myself up about it though. I have learned from this and will try to do better the next time she cancels. :) Have a wonderful day and thanks for all the inspiration.

Goal for next week is to check online nutritional information before eating out. Was in shock when I saw calorie count tonight of something I ate at a drive-thru. I thought I was choosing well but if I had looked online first, I would have chosen another restaurant.

Thank you for creating this wonderful FREE site. When I could no longer afford WW, I was looking for a new place to track, blog, as well as get & give community support. SP filled the gap, and then some! I've come to rely on SP as my daily accountability and motivation. Having a long term (6 years) record allows me to look back & see what worked, so I can repeat those steps for success.

    All the best,
    Caren

I am consistently exercising at least 4 days a week! This is a good start for me, I usually do way too much and give up after a few days or a week.

emoticon Having a great week at the beach and love the new challenge of walking in the sand for my cardio workouts-I took my dog for her first visit to the beach and she is loving it-won't go in the water but likes to scoot up the beach just ahead of the incoming wave. I have even done some of my strength exercises down on the beach-it is so nice and quiet here in the off season-we are at my sister's beach house which is right on the beach. It has a lot of beach houses on this strip but so many are empty that it is like having a giant private beach-on my walks I may see 10 people-walking, fishing, sunning-and that is about the extent of the human factor-Loving the quiet and fresh fish/shrimp that is making up most of our meals. The grill is getting a work out with the fresh veggies we are enjoying with our meals. All in all a pretty good and week and still have 4 more days! emoticon

I am going to try and commit to 3 yoga practices this week. After a busy summer, I had to let my yoga go, and my body sure misses it. I did an hour yesterday and I could feel all my sore spots thanking me.
