Speaking from the Heart!

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Tonight I did my Wednesday Night Run Club! At the after-run social, I spoke with a 24 year old young lady! I knew she had broken up with one of the premier runners in our area. In her own right, she was an age group podium athlete. We had done the Longleaf Triathlon together this past Sunday. I told her that at my age, I was inspired by her efforts. She knew my story and told me the same.
She told me that had she stayed home, she would have cried through the night. She was glad she came to Run Club. We raced for two different teams but I emphasized the fact that we are all Tri family and we supported each other regardless.
By the end of the night, several of our group joined us and just strengthened our bond as a family!
THIS is what it's all about! We come together in different circles and we support each other!
If you are lurking, not active in this virtual family, and are not reaching your goals, then open up and let us know! We are all on the same journey. We should be supporting each other and doing what we can to help!
Just sayin'!

emoticon and well said. Glad she didn't make the decision to stay home. Exercise and being with others while doing it really does help deal with emotions. Glad you were able to be there!

WOW! What a great blog and great thing to do for the young lady! You truly are special and THANK YOU...I never thought of it quite like this. I am pretty shy at heart about "inside" stuff!

emoticon Spoken from the heart, and my heart resonates. Spark, like the running community, is Family! Here for each other. I know you put a great deal into supporting others, Monty... it's just who you are!

Thanks for being there for everyone... local to you, and virtual on line... and may the support echo back to you and D!

Running Groups are so much more than Running. I love the expression,
"We are Family".. A Wonderful time to Run, Talk, Releases Frustrations and just Have Fun.

I wish I could get my 24 year old son back to running.. And with a running group.

True nothing to bring people together like sweating yourselves through the same grueling kilometers.
I stopped going to the running club (Hash House Harriers) for 2 years now, due to time pressure and the fact that I can't do long runs any more. I also don't drink alcohol any more.

But I still have the same bond with them. if we meet we pick up conversations where we left them off, we help each other and on FB we make fun of each other.

Thanks for being there for your running club teammate! I'm sure she appreciated the time to talk through a little bit and take her mind off of unhappy thoughts. I use my runs as a chance to release some frustrations and use the endorphins to get me out of a bad mood!
