Getting my head back in the game

Since the injury to my foot, it's been a tough couple of weeks. Labor day weekend I injured my foot, initially thought to be a break in a small bone, tests and a follow up appointment have shown this to be an injury to a tendon in my foot. Mostly caused by having a high arch, and the need for additional support. The 5K in the sand that I did, just put me out of the game. I still am not cleared for events, but the doctor has given me the okay to start short distances of walking. Possibly cleared for events in November, which I have a 10K Biggest Loser already scheduled. I must say it was very easy to slip into a little of "Oh poor me". The partial thumbs up, has re-sparked (pun intended) my attitude. I need to do stretches on my foot to stretch out the tendon, and I need to have special insert created to help support my feet, to keep this from happening in the future.

My short term goal, is to work on my stretching for my entire body, do short distance walking and break this 180's and get into the 170's by end of the month.

So focused, re-engerized and ready to go.

    Congratulations for not letting a big setback totally derail you! Give your body time to heal and do whatever else you can to improve your health and fitness in the meantime!

    Looks like we are dealing a similar foot injury.
    Fell backwards off a stool and tore a muscle and tendon damage.
    If it doesn't get better in 3 months I will have to have surgery to release the tendon.

    Hope you heal quickly and get back to your great goals!

    Sure hope you are up to par by that time!!

    I sprained my ankle in 1995 and was on crutches for four months. Doc said it would have been better if I broke it! Ugh!
