Static and Salsas

Friday, October 10, 2014

So this week my ticker turtle came to a complete stop emoticon And while some people bemoan this weight-loss process, I know exactly why.

emoticon Chips and salsas/dips party at work
the only thing I love more than chips and salsa is tacos. Thank goodness it wasn't a taco party.

emoticon green chile chicken enchiladas at a friend's house
close to tacos. very, dangerously close

emoticon homemade pizza night at my house
I don't even like pizza that much, but it's way better when you make it yourself

emoticon Couple that with a slightly less amount of workout time, and I'm lucky the poundage is the same, not way more.

So! Upping my game next week, and Turtle should move accordingly. the Ryan Gosling Spark voice is saying "Hey Girl, I warned you about this. Should've listened to me, girl".

Starting now, Ryan. Watch my downward dog emoticon

Downward dog, Now that was funny stuff!

Since Ryan is so talkative today, why don't you put some of these into your memory bank...

You have been doing fantastic! There will be weeks where we will not have a loss, even if we did everything right. The week before last I did not lose either. This week I did and frankly, there is only a slight hope for a loss next weigh in. I have just not been in my grove. Sure, I can say it is my is is my behaviours, so....the key is to not let anything get in our way, not even an idle will get moving again, no worries there! I have to agree with Twesten and BP sure do have some pretty tasty food hanging around. Glad I am not! xoxo

Matt Smith is a Time Lord, but Ryan Gosling is a god. You, fresh thing, seducing one of my cabana boys! Nevertheless, the turtle will continue to walk away from the Start (as I believe they say in the I Ching). emoticon

That's great, Sparky! All that social activity would have totally derailed me! But you didn't gain any weight! I agree with all the other commenters here about that patient Turtle Dude and about how slow and steady wins the race. You are GONNA SUCCEED!

By the way, not to put you back in the danger zone by talking too much about food, but I agree with you that homemade pizza is the BEST! I love homemade yeast-risen crust and I top it with delicious piles of very thinly sliced onions, green peppers, red peppers, chunks of fresh tomatoes, tuna or bacon, canned corn kernels, fresh natural shredded cheese, and I'd better shut up before I start wanting to go make a homemade pizza and then eat it all by myself because, like you, I am blessed with a little solitude today which I don't want to spoil by falling into a carb coma. Anyway, congratulations on your successful week!

Love it. :) Could also just be water. All the foods you mentioned tend to be on the salty side.

Sounds like the Sparky part of you was able to indulge without going overboard into full goat-bloat mode -- you know, that feeling of being stuffed to the max. Chips and salsa is just part of life out here, so we have to learn when to say when, and apparently you did good. emoticon

slow and steady wins the race, my friend!

your Turtle Dude did not slide backwards, just stopped for some salsa and a break!
next week he'll meander forward again ...

and just a little idea for next time - if you're aware in advance of a chips and salsa day, organise a plate of crunchy veg bites for everyone to share (dipped in salsa, they are every bit as amazing as chips, and less than 1/4 of the calories!)

I'm proud of you for not sliding backwards, for allowing yourself to indulge a little, for not whining AND knowing that it's just time to let Ryan out of the cupboard so he can push you forwards again!

well done you! next week will be amazing! :)

Chips are my downfall. If there was a chip and salsa party that would be bad for me. When I do get a hankering for chips ... I try to use sneaky strategies to prevent me from eating it. I put notes on the bag that says "wait 10 minutes." Then after 10 minutes I put another sticker on that says, "wait 5 minutes." Then to 3 minutes, then 1 minute. By then I am kinda mad at the bag and push it away.

Though ... if you had done that at chip/salsa party I suspect either someone would have just taken the sticky note off the bowl of chips ... or everyone would just be mulling around chipless ... and that would have been a downer party.

Anyway - your turtle dude will start moving again next week I hope. He knows that you know what happened this past week, and he is not vindictive. Mr. Turtle Dude will wait patiently for you, and soon enough he'll be leading the way again.

Hey girl, so your turtle decided to take a rest on that log over there, its okay, turtles know how to live it up right, girl.

Alright - I'm glad I don't live near you.... your weekly food intake sounds heavenly!!! We would probably not be good diet buddies!

As for that turtle... it'll get moving again. You're too much of a bad as* to let a bit of over indulgences stop you :)

Shake your body, yoga girl & get moving!!! Luv ya!
