How did I get here again?

Thursday, October 09, 2014

Here I am starting over again and wondering how I got to this point. I had lost 46 pounds and said never again. But slowly, over the past five years, I have gained it back. First ankle injury and PT, then a bulging disc in my back putting pressure on a nerve and more PT. Good excuses for not working out, but not for overeating! I have lost the weight before, so I know I can do it. When I lost the weight last time many people noticed and asked me how I did it. My answer was always: "Eating very little and working out a lot." That is the prescription I will try to follow again. I can no longer work out in the same way, but I will find other ways. I am currently reading a book on weight loss, Weightless: My life as a fat man and how I escaped. The author tells of how he became overweight and wanted to know the secret of thin people. He asked a thin man at work who answered: "Just. Eat. Less." I know that is the answer and am determined to follow this advice!

You can eat less. It helps if you achieve satiety and good nutrition in the process. After a long list of failures, I found the LC method to be the easiest to 'stomach'. The increase in fat helped me stay full, eat less, and the carb counting helped regulate energy levels better than ever. It is work, but so is anything else. I highly suggest it!
