Where Has the Time Gone?

It has been awhile since I've been on Spark. A quick update: at the beginning of this year I found myself at my highest weight ever (possibly including pregnancy, sheesh!), 223 lbs. I had been struggling with depression for around a year and a half and the weight just piled on as I turned to food again and again for comfort. During this time I felt I had little opportunity to find pleasure in my life and bingeing on sugary, fatty, carby crap seemed like the only indulgence I had the time and money to give myself. I had stopped exercising, too, which helped the whole situation not at all.

At the beginning of 2014 I knew I had to do something. Not only did I hate my appearance, but the extra weight was causing me physical discomfort as well. My feet and back hurt frequently from carrying a heavy load and everyday activities like tying my shoes or wiping my bum were extremely difficult to accomplish because my girth got in the way. That last part may be TMI, but I admit to it because it was a real eye-opener for me in realizing that I had to make changes.

I decided to give Isagenix a try. Isa can be a little cult-like, IMO, and I didn't/don't necessarily buy into the greatness and superiority of their product...but a trusted friend of mine was losing weight like gangbusters using their program and I wanted the results! I was certain that if I followed the program I could get similar results so it was worth it to me to invest in it since I hadn't been having much success on my own. I started it mid-Feb and by July I had lost 38 lbs, getting to about 185 lbs. Success! I also started doing the T25 workouts on my lunch break during this time. I was only about halfway to my goal by July, but I was weary of drinking shakes and spending the $ so I decided to take a break from Isa and see if I could continue to lose on my own.

I managed to lose nothing on my own over the summer. I was enjoying greater food freedom again and was not consistent enough with eating right to see a loss. I maintained most of my Isa loss, though, weighing about 190 by Sept. Not too bad for eating what I wanted quite a bit. I also trained for a triathlon over the summer, which probably helped prevent a regain. But I wanted to begin making progress towards my goal again after squandering 3 months.

I decided to go back to Isa and began their program again mid-Sept. Things started off well but I had a major crash-and-burn weekend two weeks in *sigh.* My goal is to finish off the next two weeks strong to hopefully squeak into the 170s by mid-Oct. But I will probably be going it on my own once again after that as it is difficult to justify the added expense when our budget is very tight. I believe that "I am worth it," but I have a family to consider and I could make our budget less tight if I make weight loss happen without the magic shakes, lol. It can be done, I just have to believe, be persistent, and shove the doubts out the door.

    I don't know a lot about Isa, but I do know that tracking everything I eat has helped me lose almost 17 pounds since the beginning of August. I actually have been going strong without any expensive supplements, and I'm sure you can too.
